Tithing
Last Wednesday, we talked about tithing at church. Our pastor talked about how God asks us in the bible to give 10% of everything that we earn. Now, God made EVERYTHING right!!! He made the Earth, the animals, the stars... He even made you!!! And (this is the part you need to get) He OWNS everything too! You need to understand that the clothes you wear, the bed you sleep in, even the video games that we play... he owns it ALL. My point here is, if he owns everything that you "lend" from Him (meaning He allows us to use what He owns in order to live) what's the least we could do?... WHAT???.. That’s right... give it back! That's what tithing is. He gives us EVERYTHING and all we have to do is give back 10%?!?! That sounds pretty good to me Why would you pass up such a good deal?! I can assure you that I wouldn't. Besides, if you want to grow closer to Christ, this is definitely a start. You know, when people hear the word tithe, they think of "money". That's not all tithing is. It is a way of showing God that you care, and that you truly want to live for Him and please Him. So, if you don't have any money, what do you do??? Here's what you do: You serve Him and "go about His business" as said in Mark. Serving in the church would be, for instance, what I do at mine. I play drums in the praise band. And I know that not everyone is musically talented, so if you're not, find another way to serve for Him. What I mean by go about his business is to evangelize (I think that's a word), or spread his word to people who are lost. There are many ways to repay God for all He does, so find a way and do it!
