Back to topic listing Forum - Topic: Desecration of the Qur'an by U.S. Soldier

As you all have probably know, a U.S. soldier recently used the Quran as a target for rifle practice...We are all Christians, so of course it's not 'our' Book, though of course, there is a lot of similarity (Adam and Eve; Abraham; Torah; Psalms; etc). I don't know anything about the man who shot it, whether he was a Christian, an atheist, agnostic, Jew nor do i know why he did it...This case is made exponentially more complex, as it was a soldier in a war zone and subsequently it's been a huge story in the media...

But still, it's holy to Muslims...and so it brought up a question to me...

Is it ok to desecrate another religion's 'holy book' if you don't believe it's contents?

I don't believe so. God called us to love others. Are they going to feel loved when they see us doing things like that? Love the sinner, hate the sin.

I agree whole-heartedly with Dancnfool and Colinwong. In what way can we possibly reveal God's love through such acts?
